December 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Fun Stuff, Geeky Gifts, In the News

Dear readers, we stand on the heels of a new year and a new decade. The world is spinning fast! Here’s a list of 12 changes which have affected technology and technology shopping.

Cell LargeCALLING
Calling on the telephone is becoming replaced by text messaging, BlackBerry messaging, Instant Messaging, Tweeting, Google Wave-ing, and emailing.

NEWSPAPER CLASSIFIED
Not only has ad money followed its audience online, but Craigslist has gone from covering one city, to 500 cities, worldwide.

DIAL-UP INTERNET
(?) Who in their right mind…(?)

ENCYCLOPEDIAS
Wikipedia, faster, funner and more extensive.

CD’S
Now these I am really going to miss…But I, a one-time frequenter of music stores, have not purchased a CD in years. I went through a brief iTunes fling, and now I get all of my music on eMule.

LANDLINE PHONES
Please hold Mr. History, while I switch you over to Mrs. Practical Future.

FILM CAMERAS
Well now you have digital cameras, even on your phones. And most computers come with video cameras, now a day.

YELLOW PAGES
Smart Phones and Web have done you in Yellow Pages!

CATALOGS
Once Spam came directly into your mailbox…and this was only earlier on in the decade.

FAX MACHINES
I never liked those things anyway…

WIRES
Wireless internet, wireless updating, wireless downloads, wireless charging, wireless headphones. While you may still see wires, they are ultimately on their way out!

HAND-WRITTEN LETTERS
Sending messages online sure beats $.44 per stamp.
