For those of you still feeling the pinch in the pocket, don’t be too hard on yourself; this news may change your outlook a little. In a foreclosure, on Thursday, Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage lost two homes in New Orleans, worth a total $6.8 million.
Regions Bank in Birmingham, Alabama purchased the actor’s property at 1140 Royal Street, in the French Quarter, for $2.3 million – a property which had been appraised for $3.5 million. The bank also paid $2.2 million for Mr. Cage’s 2523 Pataniya Street property, appraised at $3.3 million, in the Garden District.
According to the Sheriff of the city, Nic owed $5.5 million in mortgage payments and $151,730 to the City of New Orleans in real estate taxes.
Last month, the actor filed a lawsuit against his former business manager Samuel Levin. He claimed that Levin had “duped” him out of $20 million, since 2001 when he was hired.
According to the suit Samuel Levin,
“lined his pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while sending Cage down a path toward financial ruin [Nicolas Cage] discovered that he is now forced to sell major assets and investments at a significant loss and is faced with huge tax liabilities because of Levin’s incompetence, misrepresentations and recklessness. Rather than attaining financial security, Cage has been forced to dispose of significant assets in order to pay for Levin’s gross misconduct.”
Furthermore, CNN reported that Cage owes more than $6 million in back taxes and his properties in California and Las Vegas have also been foreclosed.
Now, courtesy of My Unique Gift Idea, have a look at some of Cage’s weird shopping habits. Perhaps not all of the blame lies on Levin:
- Cage outbid Leonardo DiCaprio for a dinosaur skull, priced at $276,000.
- At one time he owned 3 castles and two islands in the Bahamas.
- One of his Bel Air Homes had a 1955 Jaguar parked inside of the billiards room.
- The billiards room in Bel Air also had a collection of shrunken heads!
- The actor also has a jet, two yachts and a used Lamborghini, which he bought from the Shah of Iran, for almost half a million smackeroonies!
