Light of Mercy Kabbalah Necklace – Is it Powerful?

Light Amulet

When considering jewelry based on mystical sources, there are generally two kinds of buyers. The first are the ones who truly believe in the mystical power of the jewelry, and the second are those who believe that, while the pendant itself lacks any supernatural ability, it does inspire the wearer to act in the ways and ideas of that which it represents.

Kabbalah-inspired jewelry, such as this Light Of Mercy pendant, is a perfect example of this dichotomy. This is a Sterling Silver 19.5″ necklace with an iolite gemstone, a unique stone based on the Greek word for violet that changes color as light refracts through it.

It is known as Light of Mercy because Mercy is considered the second phase of spiritual development, and along with that phase comes the need to help people and spread a newfound sense of peace that has come with one’s spiritual growth, as if one is feeling mercy for those who have not yet entered the spiritual realm. The first phase is usually accompanied by an extreme hunger for knowledge that leaves concern for other people at the wayside, since all of one’s time is being spent learning and coming into contact with a new thought system. This necklace portrays the second phase, where the person becomes overwhelmed with a need to spread the kindness he or she has received from the spiritual growth and healing achieved.

Back to the controversy for a second, Kabbalah is a colloquial term for the collective teachings of Jewish mysticism. Though they are not based on any single text, the most central body of work is the Zohar, a work subjected to even more controversy as to when it was compiled and by whom.

The controversy surrounding mystical jewelry can be encapsulated by a much less controversial body of work known as the Talmud, compiled around 500 CE by Rabbis of the period. There is an interesting quote in the Babylonian Talmud specifically, that states that those who believe in “demons” are affected by them, whereas those who do not, are not.

This can be extended to Kabbalistic jewelry. It would make sense to say that, for those who believe it has supernatural power, they will probably be affected by it, and be overcome by a need to help others and spread kindness to the world. Those, on the other hand, who only believe in its inspirational qualities, will be effected by that instead. The practical difference is slim to none.

In the end, what you have is a beautiful piece of jewelry, descendant of mysterious sources, that affects both the inspiration-believer as well as the supernatural believer. Perhaps, in the end, this is the true power of mystical jewelry – indeed, whether you believe in its power or its inspiration, you will be affected positively by it.
