The royal and grand color red is the color of awesome passion and eternal love, so in time for Valentine’s Day, I’ve picked out something quite special.
Behold:
Talented Israeli artist, Ester Shahaf has handcrafted a true gem. The necklace features a Hamsa made from 925 Sterling Silver, and decorated with Swarovski crystals. The color is “Fire Brick”.
For kabbalists, the Hamsa is an ancient symbol, something like a lucky charm. It brings protection against the “Evil Eye”, and is believed to protect the person wearing it.
Ester Shahaf graduated from Tel Aviv University, studying theater and costume design, but found her true calling in handcrafting jewelry.
She blends Orient, Nouveau, Mediterranean and Modern themes, using vibrant colors and traditional materials to create splendid textures and contrasts. All of her stuff manages to capture the essence of the land and people who surround her. She creates in her home studio in the beautiful town of Binyamina, famous for their delicious wines.
Ester uses various techniques to combine pewter, copper, brass, wood and silver. The soft and warm wood blends with the smooth brass and copper accents, Swarovski crystals and satin colors.
The Hamsa pendant is 1.2cm (0.5in) width and 2.5cm (1in) length. The chain is 40cm (15.7in) long. It is signed by Ester.
