As predicted, Black Friday was HIGHLY successful for retailers. In the predawn darkness of post-Thanksgiving shopping mayhem, both online and in stores, millions of dollars were spent and millions of dollars were made. Throughout the country shopping centers reported year-over-year sales increases on Friday.
In stores, the hottest categories on the shelves, or flying off the shelves were apparel, electronics, shoes and boots and bath and beauty products. Online the average order on Black Friday rose in price 35% from last year, to $170.19.
The pre-Thanksgiving and beyond price reductions must have really put a smile on the face of budget seekers.
The National Retail Federation (NRF) is expected to release its report Sunday estimating how much shoppers spent over the Black Friday weekend and where they shopped.
Despite the hype about Black Friday, it is not actually the busiest shopping day of the year. That day is invariably the Saturday right before Christmas – today that is Dec 19th. Still November and December are crucial sales months because the period should account for half, if not more, of the sales and profits for the full year.
None the less, enjoy this video and the nationwide deals until Christmas.
See you next time shoppers…
