Black Friday has apparently come early this year, with big name retailers offering generous discounts well before Nov. 27th! A tradition breaker and a pocket pleaser this is!
Traditionally the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest bargain bomb shopping day of the year. This year Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Toys “R” Us, Best Buy, CVS, Target, Staples, HH Gregg, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, and Ace Hardware have been trying to cash in by offering delightful discounts despite the date!
Walmart welcomed Christmas on Halloween with Black Friday pricing on a selection of “secret” in-store specials. They have cut prices after Halloween an additional 20-30% on a selection of toys.
Last year on Black Friday a Walmart employee was trampled to death. In the wake of the tragedy the superstore will be keeping their stores open round-the-clock on Thanksgiving Weekend, while implementing new crowd-control measures. Sears began offering “Black Friday Now” deals on Oct. 31, which will continue every Saturday from 7 a.m. Kmart announced its “Better than Black Friday” campaign last week. Target is aiming their competitive spirit toward Walmart, by taking pre-orders of some highly anticipated DVDs at $10. And Best Buy is offering their cheapest lap top sale ever!
