Are Skinny Jeans Too Risqué For Kids?

July 20th, 2010 · No Comments · Fashion & Style, Opinions

Old Navy is now producing super skinny jeans for girls. You read right! The notorious chain store is producing trendy denim duders for elementary school gals.

Mom Jeanine from SheFinds.com said:

“Old Navy is definitely not the first brand to manufacture skinny jeans for little girls, but they very well may be the first to have sewn the words “super skinny” right into the jeans. I get that super skinny references the style of the jeans, but you can’t help but wonder what little girls will think every time they slip these jeans on”.

Well, The Gap also makes such jeans and in various styles, including saturated dark wash and embellished light wash, as The Cut points out in New York Magazine’s fashion section.

And wait, there’s more! So, not only does J. Crew sell “pencil leg jeans” for girls, they are now also making jeggings.

Here’s a snippet from the product description:

Her new BFF: A new legging that looks like denim but feels like a knit, for hours of über-comfy wear. (They’re just like Mom’s version, only smaller.) The best part? Those little ankle zippers (they just send us over the edge).

So, what think you? Do skinny girl’s pants send an inappropriate message? Or should they be rocked this autumn?
