Another Controversial Mel Gibson Tape May Soon Surface

Just when you think Mel Gibson couldn’t dig himself deeper into a ditch, he manages yet again to put himself in the center of celebrity scandals. Gibson’s history of anti-Semitic remarks has been well documented. Well, the Braveheart actor is being slammed once again for what are alleged to be more bigoted rants.

Gibson is currently in the process of producing “The Maccabees”, a film that chronicles the life of Biblical Jewish hero Judah Maccabee. The production of the film, however, is being put to a halt by Warner Bros. after the movie’s screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas, accused Gibson of hurling anti-Semtic remarks in his presence.

In his statement, Eszterhas claimed that Gibson frequently used derogatory remarks, such as “hebes” and “Jewboys” while the two were working together. Gibson has dismissed the allegations as false. Eszterhas, however, has an ace up his sleeve. He claims to have a tape that proves that all the allegations are true. Furthermore, Eszterhas also claims that Gibson’s only aspiration for producing the film was to try to reignite his career and image following his negative publicity.

To add more fuel to the fire, Eszterhas also asserted that when he and his 15-year-old son visited Gibson at his Costa Rica home, Gibson shared with the boy some intimate fantasies of his that can be best described as “pornographic” and “sexual butchery”.

The tapes that Eszterhas claims to have have not been released as of yet. If they exist and are leaked to the public, then it is probably safe to assume that Gibson’s career is done for. Gibson was arrested for DUI back in 2006. The arresting officer claimed in his report that Gibson – in his intoxicated state – unleashed a tirade of anti-Semitic remarks.

In a letter released to, Gibson wrote:

“Joe, not only was the script delivered later than you promised, both Warner Brothers and I were extraordinarily disappointed with the draft. In 25 years of script development I have never seen a more substandard first draft or a more significant waste of time. The decision not to proceed with you was based on the quality of your script, not on any other factor.
Contrary to your assertion that I was only developing Maccabees to burnish my tarnished reputation, I have been working on this project for over 10 years and it was publicly announced 8 years ago.”

Mel Gibson is an excellent actor, but he is clearly a man with self-destructive behavior and can’t control himself from saying what is on his mind, especially when there is booze running in his bloodstream. Even though he appears to have hate in his heart, let’s be merciful and pray that he gets the help he needs.
